I am a portuguese musician, saxophone player, composer and educator.\I teach jazz saxophone and improvisation since the mid 80's.
From then on I have created several jazz schools and courses, directed many workshops and seminars around the country and thaught jazz in a number of schools and universities (Évora and Aveiro Universities and Escola Superior de Educação, Coimbra).
I've worked with many of the most important Portuguese artists and jazz musicians.
Worked with Kelvin Sholar, Butch Morris, Myra Melford , Apollo Saxophone Quartet , Julian Arguelles , Marco Barrosso's "Lisbon Underground Music Ensemble" , Michael Lauren All stars , Rahary Tahiana , Chico César, Rogerio Botter-Maio, Rui Veloso, Jorge Costa Pinto, GNR, Paulo Gonzo, Herman José, Tito Paris, Pedro Abrunhosa and many others.
I graduate in Jazz Performance (ESMAE), I have a Master degree in Music Psychology (Sheffield Uni) and a Music Specialist degree (IPC/IPL/IPP).
At present I'm finishing my Phd thesis on Jazz Education sponsored by Fundação da Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) , while tutoring private saxophone students and working with my quartet.
